Pet Connection has worked tirelessly to end animal cruelty. From education and care to adoption and rescue, Pet Connection is making a life-changing difference for animals in the Ti-state area. Your support will mean so much to the animals right in our community. Thank you for making Pet Connection and the animals we serve a part of your life.

Our foster homes and volunteers pay out of pocket for each dog they save. This makes it harder for them to donate when an animal is in need. This is a great way for you to help out!

As little as $10 a month can pay to get a dog out of a shelter. Shelters charge fees and they add up fast when we pull more then one dog. Your $10 monthly membership lets us save one extra dog per month.
Foster a Pet

Foster homes are the only way we can save animals that are about to die in shelters. You get the joy of knowing that you saved a life. When you foster we will meet you with a pet and you will care for them as if they were your own until a home is found. Depending on the dog, homes are normally found between 1 week to a few months. Pet Connection will cover the vet care while you foster. We will post the dog on our facebook, Petfinder, and pet portal so the pet will be seen on 25-50 websites. We can also help print adoption flyers.
Welcome to Pet Connection Thank you so much for your interest in fostering a dog.
Pet Connection continues to struggle with the need for more foster homes. There are so many wonderful pets in high kill shelters
that have only a couple of days to be adopted. Most never are. We constantly struggle to try and get them out before they are
euthanized. As a result, some of our dogs are taken to boarding, which is expensive. Fostering helps us save more pets by providing them a place to go when they are pulled from the shelter.

Questions and Answers:

How do I get assigned a foster dog?
We send out a weekly list of pets in need of foster homes. We allow you to choose the pet you would like to foster, which fits best with your lifestyle. We have puppies, adults, and seniors, so there really is something there for all.

How long will I have my foster?

Our fosters on average only have a pet for a few weeks to a few months before they are placed in their forever homes, but that time makes the difference between life and death for that pet.

What do you need to foster?
Large amounts of patience and love.  A willingness to accept a rescue pet as part of your family. The willingness to evaluate temperament and reinforce basic commands (sit, stay, come). Rescued pets need regular feeding, fresh water and a safe home. Most of all, a foster family provides the love and attention these dogs so desperately want. We will ask you to talk to potential adopters and ask your opinion on the fit of your foster lab with the applicant. If you have a meet and greet, your impressions on the “fit” of that lab with the family are appreciated. If you have a Camera we ask that you send us pictures of the pet. Sometimes a new picture will get the pet adopted in a few days!

What about Vet Care?
We send our pets to a few vets for shots and spay/neuters, and other needed vet care before going into a foster home. We cover all needed vet care on the pets. If you pick a dog up strait from the shelter or boarding kennel you will need to set up a day with one of our vets to have them checked out and fully vetted before they go into a home.

What if the pet doesn’t get along with my other dogs?
If the foster dog is not able to get along with your other dogs, cats or family members, we would place the dog in another home or in a boarding facility.

How is the pet adopted?

We will keep the pet on Petfinder, and Petportal this send their pictures and info out to about 50 websites. They will also be on Facebook for you and others to share their info. We find a lot of great homes with Facebook so remember to help share pets. Once someone calls they will fill out the online adoption Application. After we check them out you will send you the application to see if you think its a good fit. Since you are living with the pet you may think a home isn't fit for the dog you have. If everything seems like a match you can meet the family at your home, theirs, or a public place or chose to return the dog to us and we can handle the adoption.

This application is to become a foster home to a pet. You will not own this pet, if you would chose to adopt a pet you are fostering you must fill out the adoption paper work and send in the adoption fee.
